The name Xerox has been synonymous with copiers and printers for 110 years. In that time, the company has helped businesses, large and small, run more efficiently while increasing workforce productivity.

Last month Xerox introduced 29 new devices, the largest product launch in company history, to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes in the 21st century. For small and midsize companies, there are 19 new VersaLink products to choose from depending on the needs of your business.

For the past month, I’ve been testing one of the new multifunction printers, the Xerox VersaLink C405. Here are my thoughts.

  1. It easily handles the basics and provides much more. The VersaLink C405 does all the basics. I printed, scanned, faxed, and copied documents. I also printed documents from a flash drive. I used the email app to scan images directly into an email and then pulled up an email address which I was able to store in the email app.
  2. It’s user-friendly. The first thing I noticed was the large touch screen interface. I was able to customize the icons based on how I plan to use the machine. And if you have employees, each person using the VersaLink C405 can create their own view for a true personalized experience. I reviewed and selected a few template apps from the Xerox App Gallery when I set up the MFP. According to Xerox, their channel partners are building custom apps for clients to address specific workflow processes. Some app examples include: patient records filing, real estate contract management and retail invoicing.
  3. It’s mobile and cloud ready – One of my favorite features is the ability to print wirelessly from any of my devices. I don’t even have to be in the same room; I just have to be on my office network. This saves me time and the hassle of connecting my device to the printer. I can also upload my work from the C405 MFP to my cloud accounts on Dropbox, Office 365 and Google Drive which means my partners and I can access the documents from anywhere in the world (which we have done).
  4. It’s safer and more secure than my previous MFPs – Xerox’s ConnectKey technology is part of every new device. For my business, it means extra protection from unauthorized access to devices. It also keeps confidential communications and information safe with encryption and image overwrite. Given that I don’t have an IT department on staff, this feature is greatly appreciated.

Xerox definitely delivers when it comes to helping business owners run their companies more efficiently and effectively. The C405 is more than just a multifunction printer; it’s your new workplace assistant. For more information on the C405 MFP, check out this video from Xerox.
